Microsoft is expected to introduce an update codenamed “Hudson Valley” for Windows this year. The naming of this update, which will focus on the AI experience, is still unclear. Many people claim it will come as a Windows 11 upgrade, while others claim it will be Windows 12.

Journalist Zac Bowden, who has previously accurately reported Microsoft’s plans, said Hudson Valley will not be a new operating system. So instead of Windows 12, it will be called a major Windows 11 update.
The main reason for this is that Microsoft wants to grow Windows 11 instead of a new operating system. While the company wants to popularize Windows 11, it also prefers to continue updates.
The release of Windows 12 could also create competition between Windows 10/11/12. Windows 10 is currently installed on nearly 1 billion devices, while Windows 11 has a base of 400 million. Microsoft wants to avoid a third major release.
On the other hand, it was stated that Windows 10 computers that do not support Windows 11 requirements cannot upgrade to the new systems. This means that Windows 12 may be ignored by many people. The new Windows is unlikely to be introduced in a few years.
